From dictionary.com:
do·na·tion n.()

  1. The act of giving to a fund or cause.
  2. A gift or grant.

Here are a list of crochet-related causes that need either funds, or crocheted goods for their cause. This is just a google-type list, and I don’t really know a whole lot about these places. But, at the very least, I know that they are indeed places that have a real and true need for your talents and funds.

Squares 4 SurvivorsWe accept 12″ crocheted or knitted squares of 4 ply worsted weight acrylic yarn which are assembled into afghans for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and any future hurricane victims who require assistance. All information is available at the web site including sign-up for our yahoo list. We will also accept completed afghans or quilts.

Threads of Compassion: a loosely connected group of survivors of sexual violence who desire to offer comfort and support to recent victims. The idea is simple. Anyone whose life has been affected by sexual assault or abuse is welcome to knit or crochet a scarf which in turn will be given to a victim of sexual violence when they enter the hospital for emergency treatment.

Warm Hearts Warm Babies: We are a group of kind-hearted volunteers that help to make life easier for Colorado’s tiniest citizens. We sew, knit, crochet, and quilt for premature infants and babies in need. We donate to hospitals, crisis pregnancy centers, shelters, law enforcement agencies, foster care, WIC offices, and individuals across much of the state of Colorado. All of our gifts are donated free of charge and 100% of what we receive in donations goes to help the babies. Please visit the links on the left to learn more about us and what you can do to help.

Afghans for Afghnas: A humanitarian and educational people-to-people project that sends hand-knit and crocheted blankets and sweaters, vests, hats, mittens, and socks to the beleaguered people of Afghanistan.

Angels for Hope: We crochet angels, butterflies, and smiley faces (for children) that are sent out all over the world upon request to those who are severely injured, chronically ill, and their caregivers free of charge.

These are only a few of the charities I found. There are tons of websites out there, looking for donations.
