Ketchup Time
I’m towards the end of my first week back with the kiddos. I’ve had my schedule pretty solid this week. I’m very pleased that I get to spend time not only in the “traditional” classes, but Science Lab, and even a music class.
It usually takes me about 2 weeks of seeing a student before they are used to me, and feel comfortable talking with me about non-school stuff. This year is VERY different. It’s day four, and I already feel like I’ve known these students for years. I’m especially suprised about how the 5th graders have decided that “I’m cool” so quickly. At least I had the 6th graders last year, and they already know me. But, sometimes summer brings back that “getting to know the teacher” phase back.
Yeah, I’ve also already had a call up to the nurse’s office to be told that one of my students hasn’t been taking his meds at home. Which explains why he got kicked out of class the first day of school.
I’ve put the paperwork in to start a after-school Crochet Club, starting on the 11th of September. Emma will be back in the States on Saturday, and she’s already said she’d help me out with the kiddos. I’m going to be putting up my “plan” for the club later, and I’d love input from anyone who has done something like this before.
You know you’ve had too much Nyquil when…
…it doesn’t even make you sleepy anymore.
